A Somali enterprise rooted in the Jubba valley

Who we are, where we farm, and why renewal sits at the centre of everything we grow.

Our Story

Siman Agro began with a question that wouldn't go away: if the soils of the Jubba River valley once fed whole communities, why not again? Founded in Luuq, in the Gedo Region of Somalia, we set out to prove that regenerative farming could be both a serious business and an act of renewal.

We started small โ€” a plot, a pump, and a belief that good land deserves good stewardship. From there we built an integrated enterprise that grows food, raises livestock, processes harvests, greens towns, and advises others doing the same.

Our name carries a promise: to leave the land richer than we found it, and to share what abundance we grow with the people around us.

Our Team

Siman Agro is run by Somali farmers, agronomists and builders who know this land first-hand. Our field teams combine generations of local knowledge with modern, climate-smart methods โ€” drip irrigation, soil testing, and data-driven planning.

  • Field & Agronomy โ€” day-to-day farming, irrigation and crop health.
  • Livestock & Feed โ€” animal care and on-farm feed production.
  • Processing & Operations โ€” post-harvest handling and logistics.
  • Nursery & Greening โ€” our Galmudug nursery and landscaping crews.

Together they make Siman Agro a place where rural skills become real careers.

Our Farms

Our home is the Luuq farm, set in a bend of the Jubba River in the Gedo Region. The river gives us year-round irrigation โ€” a rare advantage in this part of Somalia โ€” and lets us grow through seasons that leave rain-fed land dry.

In Galmudug, our nursery and landscaping centre raises seedlings and supplies greening projects for towns and homes across the region.

The Luuq landscape works as one system: crop zones, livestock yards, water infrastructure, a plant nursery, and a processing area โ€” each connected to the next.

Community Impact

As a social enterprise, our success is measured in more than harvests. We create steady rural jobs, train young farmers, and put fresh, locally grown food into nearby markets.

We work alongside international humanitarian organizations, the BRCiS consortium, local government, and Nagaad to strengthen food security and build resilience in communities that need it most.

  • Rural employment and on-the-job agricultural training.
  • Local food production that shortens supply chains.
  • Land restoration that protects soil and water for the future.
  • Partnership with humanitarian and community organizations.

When the land does well, the community does well. That is the whole point of Siman Agro.
